Melanie Calder Russo’s design journey began as a little girl living in Manhattan as the daughter of Nicholas Calder, a world-renowned New York-based Interior Designer who began his career in 1971. Melanie would accompany her father on his installations from the age of 6 years old. Her love of beautiful interiors, combined with her aspirations to follow in her father’s footsteps are what has made her principal and owner of Calder Design Group. After graduating from NYU in 2001, she began working alongside her father, initially as his assistant. The father/daughter duo, elevated by their strong team at CDG, quickly became a design powerhouse securing multiple publications, speaking on design panels, and being active donors in charity design events such as Holiday House, Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club & Hope Lodge. As the business grew, so did Melanie’s confidence and design aesthetic. It was not long before Nicholas recognized her potential and handed her the reigns to propel his business into her own as the principal of the company. She, with her father always by her side, continues to design luxurious, timeless & livable interiors for their clientele. Calder Design Group’s passion for pushing the envelope, along with listening to their client’s needs, is what truly makes their approach to design so unique. They work closely with their clients to understand their lifestyle and living environment. Their mission is to create, not only an elegant, well-designed, and chic space but also a livable, timeless home for their clients to enjoy for years to come. Their meticulous attention to detail and flair for thinking outside of the box is what makes their work stand out in the business in the commercial and high-end residential spaces they design. Calder Design Group’s projects include the most innovative luxury residences in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Deal New Jersey, Colorado, Palm Beach, and beyond.
